Another election!
You may have seen the news about the resignation of Mike Wilcox, one of the three District Councillors for the District ward of Alrewas and Fradley, and former Leader of the District Council. This will trigger a by-election (date TBD), and we will be ready to fight it.
We have a great candidate lined up – Morag Maclean, who has stood for the Staffordshire County seat of Lichfield Rural North, which includes Fradley, but not Alrewas, and did very well, considering that our main efforts were concentrated elsewhere. In Alrewas, part of Lichfield Rural East, our candidate Andrew Rushton did very well indeed. We are therefore taking this election very seriously.
Liberal Democrats take the approach that wherever possible we should not waste public money on arguments and opposition for its own sake, but we work to find prudent and realistic solutions that help to create a community in which we want to live, to bring up our children, and to grow old. To that end I will work with my fellow Lib Dem councillors on the District council where we already have a strong and active presence. I will also be working with those representing other political parties, challenging them constructively to produce the best outcomes for the ward of Alrewas and Fradley and its residents. Working as a team for you all year round, not just at election time, I and the other Lib Dem councillors will make a better life for all residents.
Morag Maclean, Liberal Democrat candidate for Alrewas & Fradley, July 2025
